3D model of a wooden drawbridge
3D wooden drawbridges are still found at 3D medieval castles. Those 3D castles were defended by a 3D ditch or moat, crossed by 3D wooden bridge. And since normal 3D bridges might be destroyed easily, the 3D drawbridges became very common. A typical 3D arrangement would have the 3D wooden drawbridge immediately outside a 3D gatehouse, consisting of a wooden deck 3D with one edge hinged or pivoting at the gatehouse threshold, so that in the raised position the 3D wooden drawbridge would be flush against the 3D gate, forming an additional barrier to entry. It would be backed by one or more 3D portcullises and 3D gates.
