3D model of a HMTD molecule structure
The 3D model of a HMTD molecule structure helps everyone to understand that the Hexamethylene triperoxide diamine is a serious danger to those who cannot use the HMTD properly, therefore, harmlessly. The 3D HMTD is a high explosive organic compound. And the theorised structure lent itself well to acting as an initiating, or primary explosive. While still quite sensitive to shock and friction, the 3D HMTD was relatively stable compared to other initiating 3D explosives of the time, such as mercury fulminate 3D, and proved to be relatively inexpensive and easy to synthesise.
